Our Staff

Cheryl Forsberg is the director of Cedar Tree Preschool. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Education with an endorsement in early childhood education. She began her career as a teacher at the Fairfield, Ohio YMCA. Two years later she became the director of the program. After moving with her family to Oregon, she worked as a lead teacher at Marylhurst Early Childhood Center (MECC) in Oregon City. She later became the director. In 2008 Cheryl left MECC to open Early Childhood Education Management Services (ECEMS). Cheryl believes that play is the work of young children, that children learn best when they know they belong, and when they are encouraged to ask questions and seek answers.
In her free time, she enjoys reading, talking with parents, learning new things, visiting with her 5 children, and playing with her 12 grandchildren.

Tammy Warber is the lead teacher at Cedar Tree Preschool. Originally from the Midwest, she has worked in the field of early childhood education since graduating from Central Michigan University in 2006. Tammy holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree in Child Development with a specialization in Early Childhood Education. She strives to create a play-based learning environment where children can develop a strong sense of identity and belonging, a love for learning, and an appreciation for the natural world. She implements an emergent, project-based curriculum through observation of the curiosities within the classroom community. In 2009, Tammy relocated to the Portland area with her husband.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, hiking and backpacking on Mt. Hood, gardening, and cheering for the Portland Timbers.
